I stumbled across a way to select objects that I haven't used before. It's probably in the documentation some where, but often time you don't know about things or recognize them until you need them, and then they're cool, and useful.

To use this tool, choose the "Select and Transform Objects" tool (or F1 shortcut) at the top of the toolbox. Place your viewing in page view (or pressing the 5 key) to see the entire drawing. Press the Alt key and click and hold the mouse drawing a line touching all the objects you want to select. Let go of the mouse button and all the "touched" objects will be selected.
