Ever try and get up the gumption to purchase Adobe Freehand or other vector graphics creation program? I did too, bought it once. It's been hard to buy it again ... maybe in the future. There are some great things about it that are great features; the file and export types are very universal. But you can still get around all of that stuff if you know what you're doing. Inkscape is a great alternative to these high-end applications. I figure my ROI (Return On Investment) is much better on a free application than on something that costs hundreds - or even thousands of dollars.
Another drawback is that Inkscape is not universal in it's user interface design, but for me, that's OK. I can get through it. One great benefit of Inkscape though along those same lines of a universal UI is that Inkscape is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. I can work on any computer with the same app, again, for free. If you have any ideas, needs, or tutorials you'd like to see, suggest them to me and I'll see what I can do.
